KEVIN MURRAY: (Managing Director)

Kevin has 20+ years experience managing landfill sites for several of the major landfill company’s including Wimpy, UK Waste and Biffa operating throughout the UK. With a COTC NVQ level 4 in Special Waste Landfill Management Kevin’s knowledge of waste classification and operational problem solving is invaluable to the team. Recent major projects in which Kevin has been involved include the decontamination of the MSC Napoli for Harland and Wolff and a major Bio-Remediation project for the MOD. Kevin brings his expertise in the organisation and delivery of complex contaminated land projects to the management team together with his experience in dealing with Regulators and Statutory Authorities.

SAM GRATTAN: (Business Development Manager)

Sam has over 30 years experience in civil engineering and construction. He has been involved at senior management and board level for the past 20 years. From 2006 to 2009 Sam has been employed as Operations Director for EDSR, one of the leading remediation contractors in the UK. Sam brought unrivalled project management experience to the role and was responsible for the functional, organisational and strategic management of the project teams, developing extensive knowledge of contract management. He has extensive knowledge of contract management from traditional ICE contracts to design and build. Experience includes managing large-scale earthworks, pipelines, roads, in situ concrete works, landfill construction and remediation projects including one of the largest single site remediation projects undertaken in the UK to date. The later being the remediation of a former chemical manufacturing facility at Yalding in Kent where the site was remediated using the Thermal Desorption process. Other technologies employed on the site included the use of a Permeable Reactive Barrier to control the discharge of groundwater. Prior to joining EDSR, Sam was Managing Director of TAL Ltd and Contracts Director of McKitterick Contracts.

TERRY QUINN: (Contracts Manager)

Terry has worked on industrial sites investigating and designing solutions to contaminated soil and groundwater issues since 1999. He has a COTC NVQ Level 4 in Hazardous Waste Treatment and has extensive experience in the design of corrective action programmes and remedial solutions. Terry has worked on numerous corrective action programmes that have applied a variety of modern techniques and engineered solutions to achieve risk based goals. These have included recent projects such as the residential development of several former filling station sites throughout Northern Ireland. His role within Practical Waste is to direct and manage the principal tasks to be performed by the site team.


ALLAN TATE: ( Operations Manager )

As Operations Manager, Allan’s role is to manage the smooth running of operations on site. This includes the planning of new projects, the supervision of subcontractors, and liaising with government organisations, ensuring that we conform to legislation appropriate to the project. Previously, Allan had 5 years experience in the remediation of domestic oil spills, including Emergency Oil Spill Response and Containment. Allan is qualified in dealing with Contaminated land, both Hazardous and Non-hazardous materials, along with the handling of pesticides and was the Operations Manager on our Multi-million pound contract for the MoD, on which we were commissioned as the specialised remediation contractor to bioremediate approx 18000 tonnes of aviation fuel contaminated soils. Allan holds Level 4 CoTC in Hazardous Treatment.

DARWIN DUGGAN: (Technical Manager)

Darwin has worked in the waste industry since 2003, in compliance and operational management of landfills, asbestos waste management, hazardous waste brokerage, skip hire and MRF’s. His focus is licensing and legislative compliance in the context of live contracts and potential opportunities. He recently acted as Waste Advisor to the main contractor on the flagship C-Series Factory for Bombardier in Belfast. Close liaison with the operations team, and with clients and the regulator is key to Darwin’s role. In addition, Darwin is responsible for health and safety management within contracts. He is a Chartered Wastes Manager, registered first aid instructor and currently the sole lead tutor for the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma in Northern Ireland. Darwin holds Level 4 CoTC’s in Non-Hazardous Landfill, Non-Hazardous Treatment and Hazardous Transfer.
